Wrong. The Council >of Constantinople I in 381 decided that the Holy Spirit was in fact >devine. That was only because the Arianists of Nicea I were breathing >down their throats screaming, "We have apostolic succession, we are >right!" And for all poltical purposes they were. The Trinity may have been named "the Trinity" at this council, but the Trinity was certainly in existence before. It makes sense that the Holy Spirit is God. The Holy Spirit is also called the Spirit of God. In John 14:16-26, Jesus promises to send His Spirit and it came at Pentecost in Acts 2. A spirit is the core of one's being. What about Jesus being God? John 10:30 is the verse that says it plain as day: Jesus says, "I and the Father are one." Also, in the Old Testament, God is also called Lord. Jesus is also called Lord in the New Testament. There are also verses that say if one denies Jesus then they deny God. Jesus also said that whoever saw Him had seen the Father. There are other verses. The Trinity existed long before this council....since the everlasting past. [Deletion] Beacon Deacon
