How/why can a loving and righteous God allow people to go to hell? Look around you, Jason. Look at the things you can touch...the computer screen, your clothes, your textbooks, your money, the people around you, the earth....one day, it will all be gone. What is seen is temporary and what is unseen is not temporary (i.e. permanent). Each person has a soul that we cannot see and the soul is permanent. I cannot literally see God, but God is permanent. The things of this world...the things that are seen....will pass away. The things not of this world...the things unseen....will remain. The things that are unseen refer to the spiritual realm. When people die, the part of them that is seen...the flesh...will decay and pass away, but the soul will continue in existance. The soul is part of the spiritual realm and whether the end result for one is Heaven or hell, the existance of the soul is eternal (either eternal life with God or eternal separation from God). The world we see with our finite eyes of flesh is finite. The spiritual realm that we do not see is infinite. When one commits a wrong here in the finite world, the wrong is finite and the punishment is finite (when a guy on death row gets the chair, it isn't a perpetual process...it starts, it happens, it ends). When one commits a wrong in the infinite world (the spiritual realm), the wrong is infinite and the punishment is infinite. Everything in the spiritual realm is infinite! You may be wondering how one commits a wrong in the eternal/spiritual realm....well Mark 3:29 mentions it. When one knows of the truth of Jesus Christ and doesn't accept Christ and leaves the finite world (dies) in that status and enters the infinite/eternal/spiritual realm, then that crime has entered with that soul into the spiritual realm constituting an infinite crime which results in infinite punishment. Nothing in the spiritual realm is temporary. --James, the Beacon Deacon
