NOTE: This is a written version of a short talk I delivered on July 30, 2024, at the Award Ceremony for Trail Life Troop VA-1874.
The phrase "walk worthy" appears in Colossians 1:10. I was thinking about that phrase and I have a question: For Whom do we walk worthy?
Do we walk worthy because of what others think? Or because of what we think? No. It doesn't matter what others think or what you think or what I think. What matters is what God thinks. It is He who determines what is worthy.
We don't walk worthy to make ourselves feel better or to make others feel better. It's not about you. It's not about me. It's about Jesus. Are you worrying about what others think or walking in a way that pleases Him? We need His help. We cannot do it on our own. He sends His Spirit to work in us.
2 Timothy 4:7 (NIV) says the following:
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
That is walking worthy. And may you do so and hear the words of Matthew 25:21: "Well done, good and faithful servant."
